Sausalito police remain tight-lipped about an ongoing investigation into an early morning shooting last weekend, but confirmed Tuesday the two people found dead were romantically involved.

The bodies of Robyn Chan, 51, of Sausalito, and Mara Truly, 42, of Sacramento, were discovered inside a residence at 173 San Carlos Avenue after police received reports from witnesses who heard multiple gunshots at about 2:38 July 20.

“There was trauma to both bodies, and we are conducting autopsies right now as we speak,” Sausalito Police Chief Jennifer Tejada said. “Neighbors reported hearing six gunshots.”

Police did not elaborate on details involved in the early morning incident.

Chan, whose occupation is listed as a software engineering executive on LinkedIn, and Truly had recently moved in together and had thrown a party Saturday to celebrate the news with neighbors and friends, Tejada said.

Police said the cause of the deaths is considered suspicious. The autopsies are being conducted by the Marin County Sheriff’s Coroner Division. Complete toxicology results won’t be known for several weeks.

Police entered the residence to check on the welfare of the occupants and found Truly and Chan deceased, police said.

Their deaths were deemed an isolated incident and are not related to recent burglaries in Sausalito, according to a press release from Sausalito police.

“There is no outstanding public safety risk due to this incident,” police said.

Tejada confirmed the case would be the first homicide in the city since 2009.

Anyone with information about the deaths is asked to call Sausalito police at 289-4170.

A couple found dead in Sausalito last weekend both died of gunshot wounds, police confirmed Tuesday.

Robyn Jay Chan, 51, and Mara Yvonne Truly, 41, were discovered inside 173 San Carlos Ave. about 2:45 a.m. Sunday after police received reports of gunshots in the area. The couple hosted a party at the home earlier that night.

Investigators found five guns at scene, four of which of which were registered to Chan and one which was unregistered, said Sausalito police Chief Jennifer Tejada.

One of the guns was an AR-15 assault weapon, and two of the weapons had high capacity magazines, she said.

Sausalito police did not disclose that both had gunshot wounds until the autopsies were performed Tuesday. Investigators are still trying to determine the circumstances leading to the shooting and whether it was a murder-suicide.

Tejada reiterated earlier statements that there is no apparent public threat of a killer at large. Tejada said the police department is "very appreciative of the exceptional patience and understanding the community has shown" during the past two days, while police kept a tight lid on information during the early investigation.

The investigation is continuing and police planned to conduct additional interviews.

20140721__MIJ-L-DOUBLEFATAL-0722~1-RobynChanTwo people found dead inside a Sausalito residence after a flurry of gunfire were identified as the homeowner and his girlfriend, police said Monday.

Robyn Jay Chan, 51, and Mara Yvonne Truly, 41, were discovered inside 173 San Carlos Ave. about 2:45 a.m. Sunday after police received reports of gunshots in the area.

Neighbors told investigators that Truly had just moved in or was about to, and the couple threw a party Saturday night to introduce her to neighbors and friends.

A friend who was at the party Saturday night said the couple had been dating for some time and that Truly, a Sacramento resident, already spent a considerable amount of time at Chan’s home.

“He loves traveling and he and Mara were just really happy together,” said the friend, who declined to be named. “They were happy that night. … I was shocked when his sister emailed the next day.”

Sausalito police are investigating the deaths with assistance from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, the coroner’s division and the Central Marin Police Authority.

Sausalito police Chief Jennifer Tejada declined to comment on the circumstances of the deaths pending autopsies, which are planned for Tuesday.

Tejada said police think the event was an isolated incident and that the public is not at risk of a killer at large.

The case would be the first homicide in the city of Sausalito since 2009, when Chet Turner killed his girlfriend, 46-year-old Avril Clary, at the apartment they shared on Bridgeway. Turner, who slashed the woman in the neck, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and took a 12-year prison sentence.

The homicide before that occurred in 1990, according to California Department of Justice records.

MIJ-L-DOUBLEFATAL-0721-01Two bodies were discovered inside a Sausalito residence early Sunday after police responded to reports of gunfire in the neighborhood.

The bodies were found at about 2:45 a.m. inside 173 San Carlos Ave., a two-story home over a garage in the hills near Spencer Avenue. The residence has a front driveway on San Carlos Avenue and a rear staircase leading up to Santa Rosa Avenue.

The police department said it sent officers to the home after receiving a report of gunshots at 2:38 a.m., but another resident across the street said she heard several sharp bursts at 2:15 a.m. She said she did not call police because she thought the sound might have been firecrackers.

"I heard a loud pop, pop — then a pause — then pop, pop again," said the woman, who declined to be named. "This is Sausalito. You don’t think that anything like that would happen here."

A neighbor who lives behind the residence, on the Santa Rosa Avenue side, said she heard a "bang" two to three times.

"I looked around and saw nothing out of the window," she said.

Sausalito police declined to release details about the two people or their injuries, but described the event as an "isolated incident." Police Chief Jennifer Tejada said there is nothing to indicate the general public is at risk but declined to elaborate with the investigation in progress.

There was no sign of a break-in at the home, she said.

Two pets, a cat and a dog, were inside the home when police went inside. The animals were turned over to the Marin Humane Society.

Marin County sheriff’s detectives, Central Marin police and a coroner’s investigator were assisting in the inquiry.

The coroner’s office did not release the names of the victims pending confirmation and notification of family members.

My contacts have started to bother me more and more lately. They seem to swim around on my eye and I can feel the edges of the lenses or at least I think I can. Any rubbing at all and my right lens goes up and under my eye lid. The use of my reading glasses also seems to make the situation worse.

decatur beerfest logo-2013Bought tix to the Decatur Beerfest in October, the 19th I think it is. I’ll be heading over there with the Brother, and I know that Charlie and Alicia from T-Mac will be there as well. I almost thought I screwed up since I forgot about getting the tickets during lunch and didn’t get online until almost 12:15 and they went on sale @ noon. Figured I missed out. I finally did get the tickets but only after trying several times with my debt card and then switching to my credit card, I think I had some info wrong but couldn’t figure it out.

On the way home there was a car off the side of the road on old Alabama about where the big house near the golf course is, looked like it was only the single car, that or the other car was already gone, they were putting down cones

Crappy stuff, insane people

This is what I learned as I began to watch the news at the shroom when having a beer and waiting for my pizza. Seems the dudes name is Aaron, bad karma man. He was a Buddhist and had lived abroad for some time in Thailand. Open fired in a buildings cafeteria with an AR-15, used a stolen ID.

Came home and watched some TV with Brian, Dexter and then Ray Donavan. Half way through we went out to the liquor store and picked up some beers, I got two Hoppin Frogs, one an IPA the other a… Home and finished the shows.

Got up about 8:30 and it was sunny and getting blazing HOT.

I had a couple of eggs for breakfast and then I started doing laundry and messed in the yard some. I pulled a few weeds in the front, pulled some dead stalks off of the lilies and trimmed back some of the vines along the deck, that is an un-ending task. I also roamed around the house looking for some things to take photos of, a few wasps building a nest in the front porch, going to have to kill them soon, and then followed a dragonfly around but he just wouldn’t stay still.

Tried to mess with the Falcon 40 and decided what if any tunning needed to be done on the linkage between the servos and the swash plate, it looks mostly level but the times I’ve tried to “hover” the ‘copter it would slide to the left, it may have been the wind but I still haven’t determined that fully. I wish I had an indoor area like a gym to fly and practice in.

I messed with printing some photos today, cleaned the nozzles and have done head checks but the print quality is still pretty bad, I’ve just left the printer stay dormant too long with the ink it has.

The paper had an article about a young couple from Gwinnett where she has a similar “flesh-eating” bacteria as another Gwinnett gal did sometime last year. She seemed to get it from somewhere in her yard and the other gal got it when she fell from a ZIP-line that broke and she fell, cutting her leg and ending up in a river somewhere near West Georgia College. Both have now lost all there feet and hands, very sad, both were at most in their 20’s. Reading about the gal’s husband and the fact that he is going to have to explain to her that she has lost her hands&legs is going to be really HARD and I was crying at the end of it like a baby.

Nicki called up and I gave her the Direct TV login so she could watch the Olympics through the Internet.

Met up with ChrisW (was Kohrs now Finch) and in celebration of Brian’s Birthday we went out for some Prime Rib as always. Had planned on and did meet at the Old Town Tavern in Suwanee but after getting our drinks and then ordering the Prime Rib we were told they wouldn’t have any until after 5:30, the menu says after 4pm so we were quite upset. Also, about 2 years ago or maybe only a year ago, @ Brian’s b-day last year we had a similar thing happen when we were there a bit early at the OTT over in Lawrenceville. After that we had boycotted that establishment. A manager showed up and then told us they had only medium and above, so they had shoe leather and tougher. We decided to leave and go ahead and forget Olde Towne forever and just head on over to the Outback and have the Prime Rib there, it was more equidistant from our respective homes and we may have paid a bit more but the food was way better IMHO. Also the waitress Laura was a doll. On the way home we stopped in at the Beverage Superstore and picked up some Creme Brulee Stout.

Went out to the Taco Mac for a couple of beers after dinner. Had the Dad’s Little Helper again for the 2nd list and then the LAzy Magnolia Southern Gentleman, nice Brown Ale. Cute Ashley was in a good mood today and Brad at the bar was not. Meg from the bar yesterday was there but very quiet as you would expect. Watched a few American women win some Olympic Gold in swimming.

Overcast this morning, I had to put the top up when I got into the office. At McDonalds, I felt a few drops and therefore I had gotten the top cover put in the trunk in preparation for the possibility that the sky would open up at any moment during the ride in to work. It did rain a bit around 11 in the morning, and then dried up.

Work was a bit frustrating, I did learn a bit about the API and all but the bug still is in there somewhere and it seems to be in the actual marshaling code. We also got an SAP “IMPORTANT” notice about doing a “training” for security that must be done. It took an hour to go through the “class” and then you took a test at the end. I got 11 out of 14, just one above the minimum.

Wildflowers

The drive over to the Mac in Johns Creek was a bit hot, had the top up the whole way. John was there as always, also the two mikes as well. Ray was there since the morning and then Meg and Brittany took up the bar after 5. Had a few and a a wedge then took off back home for a bit of a rest.

Nicki and Jorael were at the house, I just made up some guacamole and went upstairs and messed with the computer. Nicki told me some stuff about the car, that it sounded like the transmission was falling out, so dramatic, I was going to looks at it later but she left when I asked something more. I then watched a few episodes of tBBT and then went out to Taco Mac.

Arrived and got a shitty chair by the bottled beer, soon after I started my Brooklyn Black Stout, 2011 a few chairs opened up at the apex of the bar, I scooted over there. JiJi and Cara were taking care of the bar and then a crew of gals came in, including Lindsey from Parma and sat at a table in the bar area. Nicholas was hanging around and he was going off with JiJi and as it happens also the gals including Lindsey and they all were heading over to the Pink Pony, after they had a few beers here. Almost right after that, about 10pm Autumn and her friend, that plays for the other team, Terri joined me and then another friend Ashley (a cute JAP). They all chatted a bunch and I got a few words in edgewise. Talked about what we slept in, shaving practices and Terri made a comment about my ring, on my right hand, thinking it a wedding ring, WTF. I guess guys are not suppose to wear jewelry.

Getting out of there and going home Autumn gave me several kisses, how cute. I’m not sure where I fit into her “plans” just think she is a girl out to have some fun.

Some FUCKED up asshole shot up a bunch of people at a movie theater during the premier of Batman, he dressed up as the Joker and got up in front of the theater and unloaded a bunch of guns, a Shotgun, AR-15 & Glock? had multiple clips and got it all in by setting them by the emergency exit and then opening it from the inside and bringing it in. Maybe it wasn’t the emergency exit, possibly the exit that most theaters have that is to the side or rear of the building to funnel people out to an area so they cannot easily get into another movie for free.

Woke up and it was sunny and bright. Messed around the house finished the laundry and got the towels in the dryer.

Went out finally to Freeman’s Mill and took some photos. There were a few people there, even down in the water like they are not suppose to be. I would have liked to get some shots of the water but with all the kids around and the adults with them, there was no way. Funny part is that there was a special services cop there with the car parked in the Buses ONLY spot, figures. Then a group of gals that looked as if they were all of at least 18yo but not a bit more. I walked through the woods a bit but found nothing of interest. I did come across a American Lady and then I think a gulf fritillary, lastly I stumbled on a common buckeye, tried to catch him and I kicked myself since I though of but didn’t bring the net.

I then went over to the Hooters and had some shrimp and a beer, then over to the Shroom for another beer and a turkey hoagie. Beth, the slightly Asian gal was @ the bar, met a new gal, Victoria? who wants to be a Nascar driver? Then another brunette who rivals LaurenDe. @ the Shroom, Lauryn was in a bit of a mood, didn’t feel well due to the dust in the air. But about the time I got there she took a benedryl and figured she would be high in a few minutes. Her disposition did get a bunch better and she was joking about beer and tasting some as her shift ended @ 4 and Sahil and Justin showed up.

Talisa

Came home took a short nap and messed with photos and figuring out some of the mushrooms and insects I’ve taken photos of throughout the week. Then I watched some TV, episodes of tBBT and lastly today’s Game of Thrones. The character played by Oona Chaplin, Talisa had a really sexy part at the end of the episode. She has some wonderful back dimples, I love dimples…

the Annular solar eclipse was at ~8:30pm tonight but a storm and clouds came in about 7pm and didn’t allow any viewing for us. It would have been nice with Brian’s solar telescope to have a glimpse. I had resigned to not seeing anything earlier when the clouds came in but I totally forgot and when I looked at the clock it was 8:36 so I would have missed it anyway. Brian came up and said something again about 9pm so he forgot as well.

Tragedy struck Redhook Brewery this AM.  A brewery worker was killed when a beer keg exploded.

The worker, who has not yet been identified, was a man in his 20s or early 30s, said Assistant Fire Chief Steve Achilles. According to the assistant fire chief, the employee had been pressurizing kegs with air as part of a cleaning process to remove residual beer from them.

“The keg failed and exploded and he was injured by parts of the keg,” Achilles said.

Cool, almost cold today. Mostly sunny and clear skys.

Got a bit more going on the issue @ work. Just feel things don’t get tested well enough when we originally put them out.

I stopped in @ the Mellow Mushroom after work, had a beer and a Chicken Caesar Salad. Lauryn was a bit out of sorts today, school is taking it’s toll but her spring break is coming up. Margaret was there along with Erin, or at least I think it was Margaret, not sure any more, I can’t tell the difference even when they are right next to each other, I think Rebecca is a bit more laid back. When we talked she mentioned working out so I think that it certainly was Margaret.

Went home and drove around to see if Nicki’s car was still there, hoping it wasn’t. It had gotten too dark so I couldn’t tell at all since I was on the other side of the road and there isn’t a streetlight where they had stopped the car.

Watched the latest episodes of Shameless and then Californication, damn the cutie on the show that is the one dudes nanny is FANTASTIC!

I then finished up the photos from the wedding and got them up on the web, sent the gal Nicki a message with the link.

Heard some very odd news from Brian, the place we (he) shoots is Bull’s Eye over in downtown Lawrenceville, GA. He heard that a dude killed himself in the gun range last week, or in the last few days. Just rented a gun, got bullets and then from the cameras in the range they said he kept looking behind him so as not to possibly hurt another person and then finally just put the gun to his head a fired.

PS. It was on the 25th of Feb 2012, the guy got eye and ear protection, no targets and then did this around 5pm and by 8 everything was back to normal.

My brother had to go into work this morning due to some meeting that came up over the weekend. Seems they are cutting costs by laying off a bunch of folks. This particularly sucks for my brother since he has worked for the company for over 9 years and had all kinds of stock options and has bent over backwards to hopefully help the company go public, even so far as getting pay-cuts and no raises for most of his tenure. They didn’t give him a bad severance package though, not quite a golden parachute but an OK package.

I was suppose to go to dinner with BeckyT, but as is often the case she bailed the day of due to some stuff with her dog and her ex picking up his cat. I kind of figured it might go this way so I’m not particularly surprised or disappointed, although I was looking forward to some sushi.

Instead, I took out the camera and telescope, setting up the camera for a star trail shot out front and the telescope to play with drift alignment. The temperature and humidity made for a very dewy time. The scope was almost dripping and the camera lens was fogging up. Got the hair dryer out to help with the camera but the telescope lens seemed fine since it is covered. Here is the results of the over 2 hour capture of star trails.
