I must have been about 12 or 13. My cousin was going to the University of Arkansas I think and had came down during the summer. He was pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree and I was astounded by the light flickering device he had made that lit up different sets of lights depending on the frequencies in the input (we used music).
My first computer, you programmed it in basic and then you could record the program on a cassette tape via a connection to the microphone. I even had fun listening to the tape (sounded like a modem). I copied an entire Star Trek text-based game into the thing. That was about all I did.
