Photography

windycloudyUp this morning without any hitting of the snooze button, just laid there for a bit listening to a book and got up to take a shower. No rain but overcast all day. Noticed some buds on the trees by my window @ work. Spring may be getting here soon. All day the clouds were racing toward the North, at a good clip I might add. Rained right after work, then stopped.

mila_kunis_esquire_001Looked up info on the next release of PhotoSmith for the iPad, here they added more info on the 2.3 version and it looks like maybe next month (April) it should be coming out.

Here’s a photo of the very sexy Milla Kunis from Esquire magazine, ouch.

Work, frustrating again, not really bad but… Big guy has a meeting scheduled for 4pm EST, yeah like NO. Dude if you want to talk to Atlanta just stop in and speak, instead you schedule two events for the WHOLE world and then that’s it? I hope they record the thing and put it up on the web otherwise I won’t be seeing any of it.

I stopped in at the Duluth T-Mac and had a Blue Point Sour Cherry Imperial Stout, the manager from way back was there, the bald one who’s wife I met one time out when they both were drinking, damn I forgot his name.

Today the new version of Red Dawn came out on DVD/BlueRay, Brian and I went over to the Movie Stop and picked our copies up. Watched the Tivoed episodes of Cougar Town before and then after we went down to Brian’s and watched Red Dawn since Nicki was watching TV upstairs. I liked this version, a bit different and very much up to date as too politics and things like that. It was in a bigger city and not such a rural area as the other one was.

Ordered a couple of adapters for the mini/micro USB connector, right angle to allow a regular USB cable to fit better on the D700.

I can’t wait for the new version, it’s a great program.

They should be ready in about 1-2 months I’d say. They keep saying weeks but I’m a bit reluctant to hope for that.

A lot of progress has been made on the new sandboxing functionality, Import and Delete dialogs, and stability and speed.

cloudyCloudy and hazy all day, a bit warmer than normal though, in the high to mid sixties. Sun only came out in the afternoon for a short time.

Work was a bit slow, the build machine not set up yet.

I called up the dentist and they do have my crown and said they could get it “installed” this afternoon @ 3:20pm. Headed out of work about 2:15 in order to get back to Lawrenceville by then and just about the time I was rounding the corner of 120 where Great Expressions, my dentist, is they called to say they had an emergency and they were going to have to re-schedule, FUCK! OK, tomorrow @ 8:10 it is.

Decided to go ahead and order a TriggerTrap Arduino off of Amazon. They were suppose to just bill me for one when they began to stock again but I haven’t heard a thing and then looked it up. They billed me so I hope it comes in soon, and is right. They were having lots of trouble with the China connections they had.

Came home and watched some BBT and the newest Cougar Town. Also made some chicken fajitas and smashed up an avocado. Very yummy but still unable to eat very well. Brian was going to the ‘Shroom for dinner and invited me to have a beer or something, I was sleeping mostly on the chair and thought about it buy since I wanted to go to Trivia tonight I decided against it.

Trivia was cool, bunch of people today, Sam, Brett, Bill, Kate, Russell, a friend of Sam’s-Lisa, Autumn, her friend Brian and I. We were in the thick of things until the last question where we lost it all. Not very conservative when it comes to betting. Had one too many beers actually, should have just stayed with two.

From the Beer Journal:

My good friend Kraig Torres founded Hop City a few years ago in Atlanta, Georgia. The store sells 1,800+ beers, wine, and homebrewing supplies. Not to mention a 60+ growler station. Hop City is ranked among the best beer stores on planet earth on RateBeer.com Building upon his great success, Kraig decided to open a second location in Birmingham, Alabama. Recent law changes make Birmingham a great place for a second Hop City.

Kraig has received all the necessary permits to open except for one – the liquor license from the Alabama Beverage Commission. Kraig applied for this license, and with it, provided a floor plan. In the floor plan, he included an area for home brewing supplies. Home brewing is illegal in Alabama, but selling the ingredients is not. Kraig and his lawyer have done extensive diligence on the matter.

Yesterday (Thursday), ABC agents raided Hop City Birmingham GUNS DRAWN, and confiscated books on home brewing, grain, wort chillers, and more. The agents threatened to arrest his store manager because he harbored materials used to make beer. The ABC Agents loaded up a van with $7,000 of Kraig’s inventory, stating they would be back the next day for the rest. Every single grain, hop, and carboy has to be out of the Hop City Birmingham location before a license will be granted.

Since I really love LEGO and have a bunch of small kits assembled on my office shelf, this really sounds good to me.

I think I’ve received a dozen emails from people pointing me to a LEGO model of the Curiosity rover at the CUUSOO website. CUUSOO is a website where LEGO modelers can share concepts for kits. The CUUSOO community can vote to support concepts, and if the concept receives 10,000 votes, it goes to a LEGO committee. Each quarter, the committee reviews the supported concepts, and may choose one to actually bring to market as an official LEGO kit.

An amazing LEGO model of Curiosity | The Planetary Society.

This should be out in the next day or two of next week.

Photosmith v2.1.3.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed bug where keywords would sometimes be incorrectly split up upon import
  • Fixed bug where some imported images wouldn’t import correctly due to required database flush
  • Fixed bug for photos in some rotated configurations that cause random blocks to display in Loupe / Fullscreen
  • Fixed bug where the status in EyeFi was incorrect after selecting a new card ID
  • Fixed bug where the metadata fields would sometimes report <2 values> when only one image is selected
  • Added guard for keyword deletion when keyword is possibly null
  • Fixed collection offset when dragging images to drop into collection and collection list is scrolled
  • Fixed bug where metadata would be extracted twice, once again in the background after the main one ran
  • Fixed memory leak that would grow during sync, causing 1000+ image syncs to crash
  • Fixed bug where app may crash in certain situations when purging
  • Fixed bug where app may lockup when dragging and dropping items that may be offscreen in the grid
  • Fixed bug where re-scanning photos would sometimes not properly remove un-selected photos

Changes:

  • Re-worked display for headers in grid view to display proper date/time formatting for international dates
  • Added refresh of date/time display in grid/loupe upon app resume so that settings changes would be immediately updated
  • When selecting a keyword, the search box is now cleared to match keyword creation behavior
  • Added secondary sorting field for filename, so that subsecond sequential shots would be sorted by date and then by filename
  • Added guard for reported crashes during thumbnail loading
  • Minor speed improvement to Reject flag speed in certain circumstances
  • Re-worked unique identifier for photos throughout app. Addresses problems with duplicate images, black tiles, and other random weirdness
  • Added alert for auto-enabling of Camera Roll for Lightroom and EyeFi syncs
