ATLANTA- On March 22, 2014 Georgia’s craft brewers will convene under the banner of the “Georgia Craft Beer Fest” to celebrate the state’s flourishing craft beer community. From old guard breweries to brand new upstarts, over 25 GA breweries have been confirmed to take part in this all day event. There will informative tours, food trucks, live music, and the best craft beer the Georgia has to offer.

SweetWater Brewing Company (Atlanta) is almost legal. On February 23rd, the brewery turns 17 years old. If you know craft brewing, you know that means a special beer release.

This year, the brewery changed things up a bit. Instead of a big imperial IPA, barleywine, or strong ale, Head brewer Nick Nock and Jonathan Newman chose a farmhouse ale. SweetWater is known for hops. Not saisons. That is, until you get a taste of this concoction. This big 9% saison uses a French saison yeast for the first fermentation, then bottled conditioned with brettanomyces for round two. It tastes great now, or years from now when you take the bottles out of your stash.

SweetWater 17th Anniversary Ale debuts on February 23rd at the brewery’s birthday throw down. 22oz bombers will arrive in all of Sweetwater’s markets shortly after.

Style: Saison

Hops: Galena, Saaz, Centennial, Amarillo

Malts: Melanoidin
