I work up a bit early this morning, woke up from the re-occuring dream about driving a bus for the kids (Nicki & MArk) when they were kids. Went over to Tammy’s house (we were divorced already) and was late. Then I woke up and looked at the clock, 5:05am, thinking that the alarm didn’t ring so I get up and take a shower, end up downstairs about 5:30 and Brian comes up asking why I’m up early, ooops.

@ work I went out early to have my walk and possibly get some photos in, it began to rain about the time I got over the first bridge, then it began to get a bit heavy. Back inside I was feeling very crapped out since my system still doesn’t work correctly, just no access policies, I don’t have access to allow them or something.

I got out a bit later, the sun came out after I had eaten lunch, about 11:45 or so. I got quite a few photos of some new things, since I walked out north of the trail where there were quite a few logs and lots of moisture, mosses, and mushrooms and fungi.

I stopped in at the Suwanee T-Mac for BOTM, I had the Moo-Hoo 2010 and then the Gordon IPA (by OB, the G’ Knight now) and even though I got a glass I didn’t drink one of the BOTM, Red Bricks. The only one I need is the Laughing Skull Lager, yuck. I saw Trish and Adam there, also the dude from Honda, John (shaved head). Also Beverly (blond, fair skin, thongs) is getting married, she has a big ring and is quite happy 🙂 Adam and I made a job about being pregnant which she didn’t take kindly of.

Stopped in at the Beverage Superstore, met a cute gal, all of 21 with a 4 pack of Founders Breakfast Stout, Ali who works at the old T-Mac on 120 & Riverside. It’s now something else, she told me the name but I can’t remember it. I may have to go over there sometime again. I picked up a Jailhouse / ????? Collaboration brew, Community Service (a Scotch Ale) and a Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout that I already had a bottle of.

Brian and I shared the second bottle while I downloaded and updated my iPad with the iOS5, took all evening to download, mostly due to the fact I didn’t have the charger on and the power was low (I think). Set up the download for the iPhone and will update in the morning.

I ended up moving the piano from next door into the garage last night, Patty and Jeff were talking about it with a friend and then they left just after I got home. I then continued to think about it just getting ruined outside so I decided to go ahead and had Brian help me with it up the short hill to the driveway. We then put it between the cars and I’ll move it back to the back as soon as I get stuff moved around back there, or in the house by the back windows.

A Registry tweak

The process begins with a very minor Registry tweak. When the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\Background key opens, locate and double-click the OEMBackground value. When you see the Edit DWORD dialog box, change the value data from 0 to 1, as shown in Figure C. (If the OEMBackground value doesn’t exist in the Background key, you’ll need to pull down the Edit menu from that key and select New | DWORD (32-bit) Value).

Creating folders

In the second part of the operation, you’ll need to create a couple of folders. To begin, launch Windows Explorer. Then navigate to the %windir%\System32\oobe\info\backgrounds folder. You may need to create the info and backgrounds folders.

Configuring the wallpaper

You can use any image that you want for your new Logon screen wallpaper. However, the image has to be in JPG format and you need to name it backgroundDefault.jpg. When you copy your file to the Windows\System32\Oobe\info\backgrounds folder, you’ll encounter and will need to work through a confirmation dialog box similar to the one shown in Figure D.
Two other things to keep in mind: First, the actual file size of backgroundDefault.jpg cannot exceed 256 KB. Second, you’ll want to use an image whose dimensions match the screen resolution that you are using. If you use a file whose dimensions are smaller, the image will be stretched and may appear distorted.

Images Name with resolutions

backgroundDefault.jpg
background768×1280.jpg (0.6)
background900×1440.jpg (0.625)
background960×1280.jpg (0.75)
background1024Ă—1280.jpg (0.8)
background1280Ă—1024.jpg (1.25)
background1024×768.jpg (1.33-)
background1280×960.jpg (1.33-)
background1600Ă—1200.jpg (1.33-)
background1440×900.jpg (1.6)
background1920Ă—1200.jpg (1.6)
background1280×768.jpg (1.66-)
background1360×768.jpg (1.770833-)

Please NOTE: Images must be less than 256kb in size

The backgroundDefault.jpg image is loaded and stretched-to-fit when a resolution/ratio specific background cannot be found.

Altering shadows

As you know, the button and the text used to identify your user account on the Logon screen have shadows behind them to give them a 3D-like look, and these shadows work well with the default Logon screen wallpaper. Depending on what image you use for your new Logon screen wallpaper, these shadows might not work so well.

In addition to making it easy to change the Logon screen wallpaper, Microsoft also made it easy to adjust or disable the text and button shadows to accommodate your particular image.

To alter the shadows, launch the Registry Editor again as described above and access the

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI folder

Once you open the LogonUI folder, you’ll create a new DWORD value called ButtonSet, as shown in Figure E. You can then configure the shadow by setting the value data to one of the following numbers:

  • 0 — Light shadow
  • 1 — Dark shadow
  • 2 — No shadow

Version 1.1 is available now

Got it downloaded as well as the Lightroom version 3.5 yesterday.  They both were out earlier but I wasn’t paying much attention.  Photosmith still doesn’t have the mass tag and IPTC metadata tagging that I want.  Just not very useful for a BUNCH of photos yet.  OK for choosing a limited number and then tagging them but no way to store presets that will but ALL copyright and meta info into many files quickly.

— New Features —
• iOS 5.0 compatibility (at least as of beta 7, they’ve changed it every beta)
• Added automatic detection if there are problem images that turns off auto importing to prevent repeated crashes–gives you the chance to find the problem image and keep using the app
• Added setting to manually import photos on demand instead every time the app is opened
• Added setting to skip pre-generation of preview images
• Added setting to include iTunes synced albums in Photosmith
• Added RAF and NRW raw file support
• Added XMP export option to Dropbox (provides rudimentary support for non-Lightroom asset managers)
• Added automatic backups of the core database and a manual recovery option in case of data loss
• Added ability to enable app logging for support purposes
• Added baseline sync engine support for upcoming reverse sync functionality
• Added functionality to mark items as Rejected in Copy Name, for advanced sync images

— Bug Fixes & Other Improvements —
• Fixed rotation of photos to all Send To destinations
• Improved file transfer speed and progress reporting during Lightroom Sync
• Now able to iOS pregenerated thumbnails under iOS 5.0+ (import speed improvement)
• Fixed sharing selected images now uses the sort order instead of random order
• Fixed a regression from the previous version where fast previews weren’t used in Loupe & Fullscreen views
• Fixed bug where Send To from the Last Imported collection always sent all images instead of only selected ones
• Fixed bug where user collections would sometimes show images that had been deleted from the iPad
• Switching collections in Grid view now 60% faster
• Speed optimizations to startup – particularly for users with a large number of images on their iPad
• Fixed bug where large user collections wouldn’t sync

Work is a bit slow at the moment, very welcome since I can use the time to learn a bit and search for new things in the coding world. Even though it was raining a bit while I drove into work this morning I did get out to the greenway after lunch. Much heartburn during the walk, took a zantax and ???? it helped. Not much notable on the trail, almost stepped on a large yellowish toad pictured here. Then a few katydids, a ????? spider, some feathers and lastly a doe right were the bridge meets the trail near the entrance by my office. I had heard something that I thought was an owl but I didn’t investigate nor did I try and record it, stupid of me.

Southern Toad

Southern Toad

After getting home it was mostly overcast like the entire day was, I played on the computer for awhile, messing with the photos I took on the greenway. The one up top is one of the first taken today. I then looked up some more spiders and tagged all the ones I wasn’t sure of with my “WHAT” keyword, then I went through my frogs and got most of them named as well. I’m really getting interested in all the nature stuff along with the naming of the creatures I take photos of. I guess I even do it with the people as well 🙂

Got the Indiana Krunkles IPA a wheat IPA actually. I was thinking it was a Black IPA for some reason. Noticed the Passport has a hold on my account for the $110 check I sent them, I didn’t know they could do that, I guess it’s an electronic banking thing.

The Freeware version only allows one two layer board and schematic page but that’s all good enough for me.

For the last week my mid-lower back on the right side has been sore, in my kidney area which kind-of worries me. It only hurts when I get up from sitting at the computer at work and when bending forward.

Also, I’ve had some bites or something all over my waistband/legs for about the last 2-3 weeks. They itch like crazy and almost feel like poison ivy or something like that. I scratch and they scab up but almost always come back. My waistline and the joint at my knees seem to be center locations. It may be some-sort-of-bites I think. What do bed-bug bites look like?

Long Creek Falls

After work Fernando and I went over to the Happy Hour over at the Sage Tavern on Haynes Bridge. I think we have been there before and aside for a few women who came in pairs, one pair at bar and the other at a small table the place was mostly guys. I know I’m a fud so there was no way I was staying until 10pm for the “start” of Ladies Night so we just had a few Tapas and a couple of 420s leaving about 6:30. The bartender, Maria, was really cute, average thicker build about 5’5″ I’d say with longer dark brown hair, very nice. The ages around the place were in the late 30’s to late 50’s I’d say. I had several good Tapas although the cost a bit more $$$ than if I had just bought a dinner, lump crab stuffed mushroom caps and pancetta wrapped twin jumbo shrimp @ about $13.

Came straight on home but almost detoured to either Hooters or Taco Mac but decided to not spend the $$$$.

Nicki paid for her school today, so she is enrolled again, hopefully she will have her AA soon and in about another 2 years her Bachelors.

Oh, and updated the iPhone and iPad2 today with the latest software, not iOS5 yet though.

Turtles

I got up a bit late this morning, woke up about 7:15 and hadn’t heard the alarm at all.

Got somewhere on the bug, finally getting the correct PDB file and now the customer wants a FIX NOW! I told support that I’ll try to have something on Monday.

Met up with Ted at the Hooters in Roswell for lunch, very cute blonde with very LONG legs and a nice semi-circle butt named Christine? Nice brown eyes maybe a little green. A bus load of old guys came in about the time we were finishing up.

On the way home I noticed that the Oak Village had something going on. There was a LARGE group of people on the roadside were the Lady was found last week, NiqueL. She has a large outcry there.

AFter work I stopped in at Hooters and had an order of buffalo shrimp and a 420. It was Christmas in July so mostly everyone was dressed up a bit Christmasy. Saw the regular crew plus some. Kayla, J, Shawntae, JK, Kate, Trish, and on the customer side that gal who came to the Tilted Kilt, Clay and several others. Got out and then went over to the Shroom for a beer before heading home. Chatted with Sahil and Justin for awhile. found out that Margrett’s dad, Tim Cummings has gotten a job with a SW company, Sage. The other crew were there as well, Erin, Michelle and two others I can’t name. Sahil told me then that she may be over at Taco Mac tonight as well.

I came home and bought the latest update to the MAC OS, Lion. Then got the latest XCode (development kit) I need to get something written for the Mac so I can say I have.

“The Bad Elf GPS Receiver plugs into your iPod touch, early generation iPhone, WiFi iPad or iPad2, allowing you to start using your beloved iOS device for navigation and all sorts of geo-goodness. I’m not yet an iOS user (though an iPad 2 is on my wish list), but the Bad Elf is so popular that I thought it deserved a post. As I compose this, it’s ranked number 23 on Amazon’s GPS bestseller list and has been in the top 100 for 147 days.”
