PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) is a type of refractive surgery to correct myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism. PRK was the first type of laser eye surgery for vision correction and is the predecessor to the popular LASIK procedure.

Day 1 (March 5, 2015)

I could see quite clearly after getting out of the LazikPlus center, better than without glasses but not perfectly.

When I take my drops and sit down almost inevitably now the medicine runs into my sinuses and into my mouth and I get this nasty medicine before either but I have noticed that my sinuses are all clear so I’m assuming that if I had some sort of bacterial infection or anitbiotics would leak into my sinuses, they’re taken care of now.

Day 2

All hell breaking loose, my eyes are on fire. Lots of pain and I can’t really sleep or anything, wow this is bad. Used the numbing drops. Having a hard time not rubbing my eyes.

Day 3

Failed and rubbed the eyes at least once, feeling a lot better and seeing fair. Eyes mostly not hurting but they feel scratchy and the left one feels the worst.

Day 4

Vision still bad still @ about 20/40 or 20/50. They are feeling better and the “sand” feeling is moving around the left eye, the contact bandage may be moving around ???

Day 5

Vision a whole lot better, still a bit fuzzy, maybe due to the contact bandages. Feel much better.

Day 6

Back to work today, had trouble keeping my eye open and staring at the screen. Got some stuff done though.

Two Months

Six Months – all is well, I can see and very little halo now.

Cool but not rainy this morning, very overcast before actual sunrise.

Need to turn off my alarm and just wake up normally. I’ve been turning off the alarm after waking up and just letting myself want to get up before actually doing it. It has worked ok so far, sometimes I’m later sometimes earlier.

Booo! No Visual of the Transit of Venus, all cloudy here.

Checked in all the changes up to this point I have on my project at work, didn’t get an email from Chris or Kem about the things I need to do. I guess I just need to say it’s done and let them do a build.

Got home and Nicki was here, she went and got Subway even after I told her that I think I had enough spaghetti for her too. She left soon afterward, and left her Subway trash on the couch, not good. She also called last night and earlier today about the book she needed for class, obviously there was something that was suppose to come with the Astronomy book but didn’t in the whole book.

Nicki complained about her aches and pains again, seems another part of her body hurts as soon as another stops. She said it is mostly joins and gets bad enough for her to call out of work. She has mentioned it to the Nurse Practitioner and has gotten really no response except to have an MRI. Well seems a bit overboard to her and me as well. I’ve heard of a lot of young people coming down with certain chronic ailments more often than it seemed my generation did.

I made changes to the Beer web-code that now requires a login and should make it so bad things do not happen to the database due to crawlers and robots on the web.

I tried with Brian’s help to get a CVS thing on my site, instead I just found out that I really don’t have tty access to my server. It’s the only way he knows how to make it work, I’ll look around to see if there is another way, I haven’t seen one yet.

Brian and I ended up going to the Movie Stop and picking out some movies, I got the two that came out just today, Safe House with Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds along with Disney’s John Carter of Mars. Then I also reserved the next Sherlock Holmes and the Avengers. Used up about half of the $100 card I got for the rebate of my contact lenses that I just received. We then stopped in at Parma and got to see Lauren and Brian had dinner and we both had beers. The sun was out finally today, it was just before sunset and we couldn’t have seen it from the house due to all the trees to the west of us. If we had forgone the trip and went right back and got the solar scope we could have seen something but didn’t feel it was that important. I don’t figure I’ll be around in 117 years when it happens again, but who knows πŸ™‚

For the last week my mid-lower back on the right side has been sore, in my kidney area which kind-of worries me. It only hurts when I get up from sitting at the computer at work and when bending forward.

Also, I’ve had some bites or something all over my waistband/legs for about the last 2-3 weeks. They itch like crazy and almost feel like poison ivy or something like that. I scratch and they scab up but almost always come back. My waistline and the joint at my knees seem to be center locations. It may be some-sort-of-bites I think. What do bed-bug bites look like?

Long Creek Falls

After work Fernando and I went over to the Happy Hour over at the Sage Tavern on Haynes Bridge. I think we have been there before and aside for a few women who came in pairs, one pair at bar and the other at a small table the place was mostly guys. I know I’m a fud so there was no way I was staying until 10pm for the “start” of Ladies Night so we just had a few Tapas and a couple of 420s leaving about 6:30. The bartender, Maria, was really cute, average thicker build about 5’5″ I’d say with longer dark brown hair, very nice. The ages around the place were in the late 30’s to late 50’s I’d say. I had several good Tapas although the cost a bit more $$$ than if I had just bought a dinner, lump crab stuffed mushroom caps and pancetta wrapped twin jumbo shrimp @ about $13.

Came straight on home but almost detoured to either Hooters or Taco Mac but decided to not spend the $$$$.

Nicki paid for her school today, so she is enrolled again, hopefully she will have her AA soon and in about another 2 years her Bachelors.

Oh, and updated the iPhone and iPad2 today with the latest software, not iOS5 yet though.

Plantar fasciitis –Heel pain can be caused by stress placed on theΒ plantar fascia ligament when it is stretched irregularly, which causes small tears and inflammation. Stretching and strengthening exercises can help the ligament become more flexible and can strengthen muscles that support the arch, in turn reducing stress on the ligament.

Does beer have health benefits?

Quote from CreativeLoafing.com :

Does beer have health benefits?

Of all the alcoholic beverages, beer is the most nutritious. A quality
microbrew would have the following nutrients (used here is Grant’s Scottish Ale
from Yakima, WA), per 12 oz. Beer: 145 calories, 2.24 g. protein, 0 grams of
fat, 12.7 g. carbohydrates, 75 mg sodium, 0 g. cholesterol, 195 mg. Potassium.
Also in there are vitamins B2, B6, B12 and niacin. Wondering why this isn’t on
the bottle itself? The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms prohibits
listing nutritional content because it might suggest the curative and
therapeutic effects of beer.”

Very interesting…
