Sad, but he had a wonderful life. Made me laugh more than once.
I’ve gained about 20-30 lbs in the last several years. I can no longer touch my toes as well as I used to and even tying my shoes is more difficult. @238lbs I need to make some changes.
I’ve been drinking to much beer, at least 4+ three days a week. Then I eat a bunch of snacks during working hours. Also, I haven’t done much in the way of exercise, I really need to do more of that.
I realized this only 4 days before I am scheduled to go to my yearly Physical @ the Doctor.
We always have some sort of posters around work that have to do with some sort of campaign that the HR group has going. This week this poster popped up.
I think the gal in the poster played a stewardess in the Firth Element.
According to NASA meteor expert Bill Cooke, the Perseids are perhaps the most popular meteor shower of the year; and in 2018, they’ll be the best shower of the year. During the Perseids’ peak this week, spectators should see about 60-70 meteors per hour, but in outburst years (such as in 2016) the rate can be between 150-200 meteors an hour. The meteor shower’s peak will be visible both the nights of Aug. 11-12 and Aug. 12-13, Cooke said, but he’s inclined this year to lean toward the night of Aug. 12-13 for the better show. (Both, however, should be spectacular.)
The Perseids is close to the north pole.

Trump said yesterday he didn’t think that Putin or Russia had messed with the election. Now he says they have or may have. Seems that the FBI has arrested a Russian woman who has suppositely influenced people in Washington. Paid by some Money officials in Russia. mmm, OK, they influenced people, people do that all the time, is it really a crime? Deport her then and be done with it.
Per Fox News:Maria Butina, 29, who accompanied Republican activist Paul Erickson to President Trump’s inauguration, was charged with a second offense of acting as a foreign agent, which has its own 10-year-maximum prison sentence, as Politico reported; she had been arrested Sunday on a charge of conspiracy to act as an unregistered agent of the Russian government.”
“A Russian woman accused of conspiring to infiltrate U.S. political organizations — possibly including the National Rifle Association — at the direction of an unnamed senior Kremlin official was indicted by a federal grand jury and charged additionally Tuesday.
“According to the affidavit in support of the complaint, from as early as 2015 and continuing through at least February 2017, Butina worked at the direction of a high-level official in the Russian government who was previously a member of the legislature of the Russian Federation and later became a top official at the Russian Central Bank. This Russian official was sanctioned by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control in April 2018,” the Justice Department press release states.
Stopped in @ Home Depot and picked up one of Kreg’s Accu-Cut jigs for the circular saw, it was not what I expected.
The Accu-Cut it didn’t clamp down, wasn’t very secure and had way too much play while it was in the track. I’d say at least 1/32 to 1/16 Inch. It also didn’t attach to the saw very well and the setup instructions were very hard to follow. OK, I did have a beer so maybe that didn’t help much in the instruction following part.
I’ve decided to try and take it back to HD tomorrow, because this thing does suck big-time.
WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court upheld President Trump’s ban on travel from several predominantly Muslim countries, delivering to the president on Tuesday a political victory and an endorsement of his power to control immigration at a time of political upheaval about the treatment of migrants at the Mexican border.
President Trump repelled his decision to separate the illegal imigant’s from their children. This will make housing the “families” more costly and difficult. I hope the people who voiced forced this change are willing to fund the operation.
OK, UK Prime Minister, show us the money……
Learned later that the “procedures” to separate children from parents was to NOT put children in Adult facilities. This was done during Bush Junior’s time.

While looking for the perfect product to keep my photos safe, I discovered that sometimes simple is best. My requirements were simple: ensure that all my digital photos, stored on a locally attached USB drive, were duplicated to another drive attached to my AirPort Extreme. My photos are in RAW format (specifically DNG files) and will never change, so I only need to concern myself with new files.
I checked out numerous commercial and free products for backup, synchronizing and more, and nothing quite fit the bill. Whilst rsync could probably do the job, I couldn’t get my head around the terminology to be sure I wasn’t risking the original files. Then I discovered the solution. So mind-bogglingly simple, and no third-party software required. In Terminal, I run this command:
cp -npRv “/Volumes/LocalUSB/Photos/” “/Volumes/RemoteUSB/Photos/”
Yes, it is the standard Unix copy (cp) command with a few options: •n – Do not overwrite an existing file
•p – Preserves attributes, including resource forks
•R – When the source file is a directory and the path ends in with a slash (/) then the entire contents of the directory are copied recursively
•v – Causes files to be listed when copied
The n and R ensure that all new files are copied from the directory tree. Files already there are not re-copied. In short, a quick and efficient means of getting just the new photos copied over.
cp -Rpnv “/Volumes/Media-BU/iTunes Media” /Volumes/MediaBackup
cp -npRv /Volumes/Photographs/Photographs /Volumes/PhotoBackup
