Yes, first day of school, many of the corners I passed had mom & dads waiting with their kids for the bus. I always loved the first day of school, seeing friends you hadn’t seen for the whole summer, getting to wear new clothes for the first time and all the new school supplies. I think some kids don’t actually start until Wednesday though.

Jumping Spider

Tommorow the order Brian sent for our stuff from AdaFruit should be coming in. I’ll have to then play with some of the Arduino stuff. I’ll need to get a few more proto-boards so I can have multiple projects going before possibly making them permeant on a proto-board.

stopped in at the Shroom for my free Appetizer and a beer, Lauryn was decked out in her ‘Shroom shirt she ‘modified’ by cutting the neck larger and then opening the back with cuts and some creative braiding. She had a cute colored bra who’s straps showed from behind as well as when the larger neck opening would fall off her shoulder, wow. Had a Fat Tire but it didn’t count since it rang up with the same button as the pint.

Getting home and backing into the garage I noticed that the yard guys had been by,, they cut the grass and had even skalped it in several places, <sarcasm>thanks dudes</sarcasm>

I assembled the 555 timer circuit I wanted to test the oscilloscope with and messed with tHE Arduino a bit. Then watched last weeks episode of True Blood, it’s getting a bit crazier than I like SO I may let it go. I want the new episodes of Game oF Thrones to start up again.

Mom and Dad are going to be here tomorrow I think Brian said.

another type of Amanita, I think

Today was the big “Spring Event” @ work.

Not much else going on, it was about mid 70’s this morning on the drive into work, I had the top down and listening to the beginning of the 4th Honor Harrington novel on my iPhone.

November 3rd, 2011 — Now There Is An International Stout Day? Β I’m in.

The event for work was quite good. The food was great and that is not even because I didn’t eat lunch at all and just waited until we had the “stuff” there @ 2pm. There was a TON of stuff, wings, beef and chicken skewers, crunchy flatbread, FISH tacos (yum), crab & goat cheese with bread, pulled pork mini burgers and shrimp & bacon skewers. I also had a Hopescutioner that I shouldn’t have had. On the way home I was feeling a little sick, took a nap after getter to the house for about 2 hours and then headed over to the Taco Mac about 8:20pm.

Two beers at the Mac, Widmer Nelson Imperial IPA and the Victory Hop Wallop. Saw the couple from last time, Christine and Dale (or Cole) and then I saw Veronica, she actually stopped me outside while I was leaving, she was behind me when i walked out and tapped me on the shoulder and called me by name. Chatted for awhile, she works in Buckhead, lives in Buford (around the corner from the Mall) apologized about being short last weekend. I felt good about the exchange and she even hugged me at the beginning and end of our conversation. Wow, I wonder if something could happen there?

Got home and it began thunder and lightning a bit, funny since I just mentioned it to Veronica before I left the MAc that I would like it to rain and she asked if it was in the forecast. Also, I had the top down in the car and I’m glad it didn’t rain BEFORE I had gotten home.

Found Food: Cauliflower Mushroom
Cauliflower Mushroom

This is interesting since about a month ago I found this mushroom and took a photo of it not knowing what it was, now I do. It disappeared rather quickly and maybe someone picked it up or possibly an animal such as a deer ate it. I couldn’t see myself eating something like this I’ve just picked off the ground. I have eaten some wild blackberries that grow around the greenway though, but it sometimes worries me and I don’t eat too many at a time.

Arduinio UNO close up

So, yesterday I got the Arduino and messed with it for awhile, today I instead just had some beers and hung out.

After work I stopped in at the Shroom and had a beer along with some meatball sub, then came home and had a short nap on the couch upstairs. I did wake up before too long and was over at the Taco Mac for a couple of more beers about 9pm.

Stayed out way too late, Cara & Timmy holding up the bar, JiJi even said Hi.

I chatted with a cute younger couple I’d talked with before, Christine and Dale or Clay. Also met a new Florida fan, Karen Christy who is a Sales person at a Plumbing supply company. Had a nice time talking and stayed for more beers than I should have. Got home after 2am and got her number.

For the last week my mid-lower back on the right side has been sore, in my kidney area which kind-of worries me. It only hurts when I get up from sitting at the computer at work and when bending forward.

Also, I’ve had some bites or something all over my waistband/legs for about the last 2-3 weeks. They itch like crazy and almost feel like poison ivy or something like that. I scratch and they scab up but almost always come back. My waistline and the joint at my knees seem to be center locations. It may be some-sort-of-bites I think. What do bed-bug bites look like?

Long Creek Falls

After work Fernando and I went over to the Happy Hour over at the Sage Tavern on Haynes Bridge. I think we have been there before and aside for a few women who came in pairs, one pair at bar and the other at a small table the place was mostly guys. I know I’m a fud so there was no way I was staying until 10pm for the “start” of Ladies Night so we just had a few Tapas and a couple of 420s leaving about 6:30. The bartender, Maria, was really cute, average thicker build about 5’5″ I’d say with longer dark brown hair, very nice. The ages around the place were in the late 30’s to late 50’s I’d say. I had several good Tapas although the cost a bit more $$$ than if I had just bought a dinner, lump crab stuffed mushroom caps and pancetta wrapped twin jumbo shrimp @ about $13.

Came straight on home but almost detoured to either Hooters or Taco Mac but decided to not spend the $$$$.

Nicki paid for her school today, so she is enrolled again, hopefully she will have her AA soon and in about another 2 years her Bachelors.

Oh, and updated the iPhone and iPad2 today with the latest software, not iOS5 yet though.

Suwanee Beerfest

Got up and started getting ready for the beerfest today. Brian and I first headed over to the Shroom for some lunch before drinking up some beer. Lauryn, Michelle and we talked about various things and they even had a new beer, Vitory HopDevil but I wasn’t drinking today. Loaded up on water instead. After we started the drive over to Chris’s so she could drop us off at the Festival, really nice of her.

The beerfest in a word was HOT, hot as hell actually. It was rather small with a really decent selection of beers but the “VIP” was nothing special at all. No water, no special beers, you got in an hour early put there was no really special swag or anything that I could see. Saw quite a few friends from Taco Mac, Adam & Trish, Casey & Mike, other Mike, other dude I can’t remember his name (balding), Charlie & Alicia, Dan & Cathy as well as a special appearance by Tracy (used to work at T-Mac Mall) who was just newly engaged and looked WAY thin.

In the middle we exited and had a drink at the Shroom there at the Towne Center and then returned for a few more beers before meeting up with ChrisK at the Olde Towne Taverne for Brian’s birthday dinner. We then went back to Chris’s place and watched the Green Hornet and then came on home to Nicki and her boyfriend making ice cream. Also had a bit of a “religious” argument, she is a bit too churchy for my comfort but it it makes her happy.

Northern Sky

Got up this morning and didn’t do much, things are winding down this trip. I’ve been thinking about possibly getting a checked bag and getting all the stuff home now. Not sure but I may do it.

We went out to Bonefish Willies for lunch, really HOT gal working there with some very interesting tattoos, several skulls, one day of the dead type. Nice brown hair, not very happy though. I had the oyster poboy and it didn’t sit well with me. After getting home I laid down and didn’t get up until about 6pm when we were suppose to head over to the Silver T’s and watch a baseball game, I bailed and instead just hung out at the house, sleeping and feeling like throwing up. Finally about 9:30pm Mom and Dad got home and I felt better.

Found out they already had a verdict in the Casey Anthony case, they acquitted her. Someone said that even OJ Simpson thought the verdict was full of shit. I guess I see why they did it, but I feel that she did more wrong than just lie to police.

Lake Washington, Melbourne, FL

Up and went for groceries and then got all the stuff ready for the 4th on the 3rd Bar-B-Que. Shawn and Gail along with the rest of use had a great meal. Watched a bit of the Casey Anthony Final Statements and then a couple of movies. Push was the only one I hadn’t seen.

Nicki called about how to transplant an Orchid, what’s interesting about that is just earlier in the day Mom did the exact same thing. We were able to tell her what to do exactly.

Cloudless Giant Sulfur

Lazy day, went out with the parents quick trip to the library, very cute gal at the computer there, nice florida tan. Then we quickly went to the arcade and then home for lunch.

Puttered around the yard with Mom and then we both watched Dad fix the watering (sprinkler) water pump.

Mom and I went out to Lake Washington about 3pm but it began to cloud up and had been thundering even before we had left. Went out to the dock and by the time we came back it darkened up a lot and had just started to rain and blow. Got under the picnic area and stayed for awhile during the issuing rain storm, lots of lighting and thunder along with the rain. Wind began to slow and so did the rain. Tried to get some photos of lightning, wishing I had brought my StopShot in order to do so. I setup the S9100 and videoed the storm for the 30 minutes we waited and then left before it had stopped complete.

Home and Mom cooked up some really good spagetti while Dad and I watched the finishing up of the Casey Anthony rebuttal. She gal must be guilty but I don’t know if they will be able to convict her. Her car smelled of something dead, Kaylee was buried just like all the animals in her family were and she lied and had no idea where her daughter was from day one. No matter what she is GUITLY of something.

Gulf Fritillary

Up and took some photos of the garden and butterflies when Mom and Dad did the Archade tour. We then had lunch and I got tickets for the Kennedy Space Center. Decided to go to the Space Center even though the weather and sky were not perfect.

Arrived at the Center about 2pm, jumped right on the bus to the Gantry. The security there was like getting on an airplane but they didn’t require us to take off our shoes. The signage stated restrictions not talked about on the website but they didn’t seem to worried about Dad’s knife (signage said NO knives, website said only pocket knives). Started raining a bit during the drive to the Gantry, a storm rolled in from the north past both the 39B and then 39A launch pads. Took some photos of the Atlantis Shuttle while on the 39A pad but couldn’t see much due to the structure. On to the Saturn V exhibit after leaving there.

The Saturn V area was cool, not sure if I had seen it before, the entire actual launch controls were in the building and then the pieces of the Saturn V that took the crew to the moon. Mom and Dad were tired by then allowing me to walk around while they just sat and watched people. Rode back to the main area and I walked up to see the “Explorer”, a mockup of a Re-entry Vehicle. We then left. The Atlantis is suppose to launch on next Friday July 8th.

We stopped in at a Outback Steakhouse and had some steaks for dinner before getting home and watching some more of the Casey Anthony Trial, most of the testimony is over and the Defense Rested. No, Casey was not put on the stand. I believe she is guilty in SOME way, although I’m not sure if it’s murder actually. She is kind of cute in a very alligator kind of way.

135mm cameras in my life:

Argus C3 (1975?) Photo

My grandpa on my mother’s side gave me this when I was expressing an interest in photography. Β He had purchased it a long time ago, along with all kinds of lenses and things. Β It was in excellent condition at the time around 1975 or so. Β Had lots of filters and such as well, ended up giving it to Brian the younger brother who lost it somewhere along the way. Β I feel bad that I didn’t hang on to it myself.

Minolta SRT-201 (1976?) Photo

No longer have this camera, bought it about 1978 I think. Β I was in High School still and got this along with a 55mm lens as a kit from Sears I believe. Β Had no idea what camera to get and just picked a kit out of the catalog when I had the money to buy it. Β I think it was around $250.

Minolta X-700 (1981?) Photo

Bought this while in College I think, from a shop in the Mall in Gainesville. Β I may have done this after I graduated, I’m really not sure.

Nikon D100 (12/17/2002)

My first digital 35mm camera, I had been waiting for a long time and ended up buying it at a shop in Atlanta along with a older/used 35-85 push-pull zoom lens. Β I think I paid about $1999 for it?

Nikon D200 (01/29/2006)

Bought about January 2006. Β but didn’t get until almost February I think. Β Main reason for upgrade was larger resolution. Β Sold D100 to my brother Brian. Β Bought from Adorama since B&H couldn’t get the camera fast enough. Β I also got the kit with the camera since it was faster as well.

Nikon D700 (01/26/2010)

Bought this at the end of 2010, mostly for the full frame so I could utilize my wide angle lenses better.

Got up a bit earlier today, cold outside, almost under 40 I think. It’s cold downstairs since I put on the AC instead of the Heat last week. Turned on the heat and watched the end of Skyline that I had started last night but just couldn’t finish.

Nicki got up and then went out to go to the store.

I then played upstairs with photos for awhile and Brian came up asking about maybe going to lunch somewhere, suggested the Kilted Kilt that just opened up by the Mall.

Had some lunch there but TOTALLY forgot about the 12:30 before you can buy a beer rule. Stupid Georgia and the liquor laws here. Cute Kilt Girl, light auburn hair and some really nice freckles on her midriff. Brian was his regular somewhat fault finding self. Let the owner/manager know that some of the girls don’t look good in the outfit, mmmmm. OK, thanks. I love him but sometimes he makes me want to crawl under something and disappear. It was fine that he say it to me but….

We then stopped in at the T-Mac for a beer since the Kilt was out of Guinness, what? an Irish bar out of Guinness? Just not right! I had the Victory Heartland Pale Ale and he the Ommegang Chocolate Indulgance, I only have 11 more credits to get my Dean and the stein. Maybe I’ll drink the Schlitz Gusto for the 750th beer.

Stayed home the rest of the day, just messed with some StopShot photos with a glass of water and some dice. I also messed on the Interwebs and waited for a text I didn’t get. I figured that Bill&Suzy didn’t really want me over but I was being polite and would rather get to know them better. I’m really not into the third wheel stuff as much as I seem to get into it. It would have been cool watching them do the beer brewing, it would have been cool.

The weekend is mostly rainy and cool. I didn’t get up till almost 11am and then didn’t get out to lunch until almost 1pm since Brian had called the DirecTV guys and he had blocked the car in the garage. I’m not sure why they don’t always just park on the street.

I came home after lunch and just messed around a bit with the StopShot and took some photos of dropping dice in a wine glass of water. I just simply dropped the dice and then had the camera triggered.

I then went out to T-Mac for a couple of beers, Had the Holy Mackerel Panic Attack and then the Unibroue La Terrible. Saw Dan and Cathy there just before they finished their last beers. They are off to the north next week. Met another couple, Bill and Suzy, they have a 3 yo boy at home and also brew beer. They invited me over to the house tomorrow to witness the brewing process. They and D&C talked about Ireland since D&C are going soon and they went about 3-4 years ago I think. Now I want to go. We discussed the gal at the table next to the bar, she seems to be there EVERY Friday and Saturday, this weekend with an older dude we were theorizing if he was her dad or if there was a romantic connection, didn’t seem to be. Really none of our business. She is HOT in a slutty dirty blond with big breasts sort of way. The cute gator fan hostess and I shared our condolences on the Florida’s elite 8 loss to Balor.

Came home after that, stopping in at the Kroger for some salmon to cook and instead stopping in for wings at the Beef O’Brady’s instead.

Slept so well in fact that I didn’t get up when my alarm rang at all.

I saw a Tesla on the way to get a sandwich this afternoon, it was red. I thought it was a Ferrari at first.

U went out to the T-Mac at the Mall to have a Left Hand Fade to Black Smoked Baltic Porter Cask and I even got to hammer in the tap head on the cask. I didn’t get a photo like a fool but I didn’t waste much beer. The greater part of the crowd was the regulars from Suwanee, Charlie, his wife Alicia and Beth. Cara was at the bar, sweet Cara, the only gal at the place wearing shorts, told us it was because she didn’t have any long work pants anymore, they had split one night not that long ago. JeeJee was working the floor and I got to say hello before leaving. Jason (the GM) also said hi/bye before I left.

I went home and rested before meeting up with Fernando at 37Main, a gal, Jaime at the bar was a bunch of fun, and a hotie to boot. The place was rocking and we left about 1am, the party didn’t start until almost 11 even though we were there before 9. The Guns and Roses tribute band, Appetite for Destruction was GREAT and the rocked the house. Quite a few hot ladies dancing around to the music. Also, some that were not so cute a wide variety of people.

The dubbel was smooth with a sweet malty flavor. You could taste the alcohol a bit during but it smoothed out on the finish. The aroma was all malt and molasses.

Here’s a photo of the Koningshoeven Trappist Ale glass I got from the Porter Beer Bar last night. I also stuffed myself on a Chicken Schnizel Sandwich and fries. It was a good evening, wish I fit into the crowd in Little Five Points a bit better.

Their description of the event:

“So La Trappe is one of seven Trappist breweries, and the only outside of Belgium. La Trappe has been called Koningshoevn in the US for a few years now due to a trademark dispute, but now it’s finally going back to La Trappe. La Trappe makes the traditional double, triple and quadruple, but also Tilburg Dutch Brown. Tilburg is one of my favorite browns, only made more tasty by the Hieronymus Bosch drawing of a bird eating a man from his triptic of Earth, Heaven and Hell on the lable. In celebration of the return of La Trappe we are having a last hurrah of Koningshoevn goblet night. Limited edition. Last chance, hopefully we’ll see you tonight!”

Brew Your Cask Off 2011

It was getting close to 6pm so I printed my ticket to the “Brew Your Cask Off” and headed on down to the Sweetwater Brewery. It was just beginning to rain again, not much but enough to give you pause. They were ready for that, it whole area was under cover but the area wasn’t as big as it needed to be. I’m not sure how many people were there, must have been over 2000 I’d say maybe closer to 3 or 4K. It was beginning to actually warm up outside and it was wall to wall people in the tent with all 89 Casks lined up on one side. There was an area in the SW parking lot were there was food and tables for “sponsors” The Beer Connoisseur folks were there along with a few others.

I don’t really think that the event was worth the $35 that I spent for the ticket. I wish I had been able to drink a few more beers than I got to. It was just so crowded and I really didn’t research enough of the beers to know what to drink. I found out on Sunday that Jason from the MallOfGA T-Mac had a brew, a Porter that I wish I had gotten a taste of. I’m going to have to get a digital recorder to “tape” my thoughts on beers during these types of events.

Chatted with the gal at the Spring Beerfest (at the Masquerade) about photography, she was a bit of a photographer herself and I gave her one of my cards.

The people on the right brewed what I thought was the best beer I tasted at the event. It was a Pumpkin Porter, very chocolaty with a bit of pumpkin spice to give it a unique taste. They also gave me a $5 off coupon for their establishment.

Krueger

It was not until Jan 24, 1935, that the first beer cans went on sale to the general public when Krueger’s Finest Beer went on sale in Richmond, Virginia.

I’ll need to buy some beers in cans in order to celebrate this ostentatious day. Maybe some Oscar Blues?

I got a new spin on the issue I was working on, seems that maybe I can just add a few things into a table used to indirectly assign channels by the Profile assignments and maybe then assign the channels in a Channel Set indirectly to the profiles the Channel Set is directly assigned to.

I ended up stopping in at the Summits in Cumming,GA again in order to pick up a Negra Modelo glass, the beer was basically just OK but the glass is cool. Also had an order of chicken quesadilla and although I tried to be able to talk with the very cute brunette there I instead ended up with the oddball dude.

The trek across on Hwy 20 wasn’t so bad this evening, I got home in plenty of time to print the photos from Hooter’s Halloween for Patty and also got a little nap in before heading over to Trivia.

We didn’t win and I was instrumental in missing some questions, I really thought I was correct, sorry guys. I found out that one of the Hooters Gals were arrested early in the morning on the 2nd, some altercation with a boyfriend, they found a fake ID so she got in more trouble than necessary, she also looked really tired in the photo, why would someone look tired like that when they are only 19 years old? JG
