Good Marketing…

Either Jessie Andrews is an anomaly, or she’s a sign that porn is so mainstream that being in the industry isn’t all or nothing. In addition to acting in porn, she designs jewelry, models and DJs — and attributes some of her success to her porn name recognition. Shown: One of her many modeling gigs for American Apparel. Few Facts:

– The first attempted at canning actually started in 1909.  The first attempts were unsuccessful due to pressure and sealing issues.

– Prohibition in the United States (aka The Dark Times) prevented American Can from attempting again until repeal – 1933

– As crazy as it sounds now, the sale of beer in cans wasn’t easy.  Adoption took time.

– Krueger’s canned beer became popular very fast once the idea took off.

– Schlitz, Pabst, Stroh’s & Anheuser-Busch lost market share due to Gottfried Krueger’s cans – so started canning also.

– According to the Brewer’s Association, canned beer accounts for more than 50% of beer sold in the states.

Stone Enjoy By 3.14.15

There is currently a Stone Enjoy By 2.14.15 on shelves. It looks like there is another offering to launch right after – Stone Enjoy By 3.14.15.

It’s no accident that the brewery chose this date – National Pi Day, because this year the date completes two more digits of the Pi calculation, 3.14.15 (Pi= 3.14159265359)

The distribution area for Stone Enjoy By 3.14.15 has not been announced yet.

Wild Heaven Eschaton has finally arrived in bottles. The Belgian-style quadrupel as been a bottle hopeful since its debut in 2011.

Eschaton is a one-of-a-kind oaked all-malt Quadrupel (or “Belgian Strong Dark” if you prefer) that abounds with dark fruit and pit fruit flavors as well as earthy spiciness. Vanilla oak and warm viniferous notes assert themselves as the beer warms to reveal additional layers of delicious complexity.

“Eschaton” is greek for the end of the world, or climax of history. Wild Heaven Eschaton is available in 12oz bottles, and draft while the world goes on. (Maybe a little bit after too.)

The brewery is also introducing cans in 2015.

Style: Belgian-style Quadrupel (Aged on Pinot Noir Oak Chips)
Availability: 12oz bottles (New), Draft. Year-round.

Red Brick Imperial Stout

Red Brick Brewing (Atlanta, GA) is taking a hint from the lovers of 20th Anniversary Imperial Stout, when it comes to their upcoming Imperial Stout release.

The 20th Anniversary release (imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels) was one of the brewery’s fastest selling, and most desired barrel aged beers to date. This February, the brewery will launch another rendition of the stout offering.

The Red Brick brewing team recreated the base imperial stout, and has been aging half of it in oak bourbon barrels.

It features big notes of dark chocolate and espresso beans with a mild oak character.

Look for Red Brick Imperial Stout to hit shelves in February, 2015. Part of the brewery’s Brick Mason Series.

Style: Imperial Stout (50% Barrel Aged. Bourbon.)

Availability: 12oz bottles, Draft. Limited release.

One of the most sought after beers in the world, Russian River Pliny the Younger returns again on February 6th, 2015.

Russian River calls it a “triple” ipa, basically for the motherlode of hops and big ABV that goes along with each glass. Younger is only available on draft (typically in 10oz pours) and never available for growler fills. 2015 marks the 11th year for this brew.

“It’s on! Eric and RJ are brewing the first batches of Pliny the Younger at the pub. It is our 11th year brewing this seasonal winter brew. RJ is new to our brewing team and thought Vinnie may have made a typo on the recipe. Yep. That’s the right amount of hops for Younger! Release date is still set for Friday, February 6th! More details coming soon!”

Extremely limited release of Russian River Pliny the Younger begins the week of February 6th, 2015, and over the course of two weeks at the pub after the first day. Distributors in San Jose, Sacramento, Oregon, Colorado, and Philadelphia will receive their kegs sometime in February.

Style: Imperial IPA

Availability: Draft only

Arrivals: 2/6/2015 (at Russian River). Extremely limited other markets, TBA
